[ mood | excited ]

hey y'all, we've officially decided to make our Western Stitch meetings on Tuesdays at 7pm. we now live at The Bird House on 1219 N Garden Street, across from Tokyo House near the Holly Street intersection.

also, i finished my sweater over the summer (though i'm actually unraveling some of it right now to fix some things i didn't like):

[28 Apr 2006|11:23am]

hey guys, i thought you all might get a kick out of this. there is a webcomic called diesel sweeties, which is one of my favourites, but anyway, they just started offering a new shirt that i think all knitters should have. check it out.

Knitting Book for sale or trade [20 Feb 2006|09:09am]

I bought this book for myself, then recieved another copy for my birthday. Would anyone in this community want to buy it from me? I'd also trade it for some knitting supplies. A Second Treasury of Magical Knitting by Cat Bordhi.

Amazon has it priced at $26.95 but I think that's a little steep, I'd let it go for $15 or the equivalent value of yarn.

Short-notice, but there's a knitting night tonight [15 Feb 2006|02:51pm]

Tonight, Fairhaven Stack 3 lounge at 8 is a Knitting Night.

Come if you want to learn how to knit
Come if you want to learn new techniques or have questions
Come if you already know how to knit really well, and want to help me teach people!

I know alot of you probably won't be able to come, but if you can, that would be super-swell. I know most of the people who frequent this board know how to knit well, and I would appreciate some support.

FYI. [14 Feb 2006|11:45am]

the other day when i was avoiding studying, i created a livejournal community specifically for Western Stitch, so people can ask me questions about the club and such whenever they want. and we can, yknow, post club specific things there instead of cluttering this community with it all (esp. since only a few of you from here are in the club).

and, of course, i'll still post here for personal knitting stuff. i just feel weird about pasting my club all over your community.

oh, and here's the link:

Knitting Display at the Library [13 Feb 2006|09:36pm]

In Wilson Library, near the Media Desk, one of the glass display cases has a knitting theme. I think it's scheduled to be up through the end of March.

[23 Jan 2006|03:57pm]

tehre is a knit-night tonight at birnam wood community building. i think it's at 7pm.

it's pretty lame looking, but i need motivation to pick up the needles right now. after finishing a few circular scarves all the wind fell out of my sail.

i want to make an elizibethan collar out of some mohair and silk *purr* so maybe i'll start again soon.

when shall we have another get together?

western stitch. [16 Jan 2006|07:02pm]

just a reminder that we're meeting this thursday at 7pm. address and directions can be found at also, if you get lost or anything, you can call my new house phone at 3606712179.

we're going to be taking a trip to joann's this week if we have enough car space. also, we'll probably stop off somewhere cheap for food.

let us know if you can make it and/or have transportation so we can figure out ahead of time if we can actually make the joann's trip without leaving anyone behind.

hope to see you thursday!

hehe. seriously, the more the merrier. hell, bring a friend!

hello all! i hope everyone had a good vacation. i sure did, sitting around montana for two weeks knitting and watching movies. before that i made these ipod cozies for some of my friends:

also, Western Stitch is meeting thursday (jan 5th) at 7pm. directions to our apartment on high street are on the webpage. bring anyone you want, we really want to get this going this quarter. should we talk more about melding the two groups?

hope to knit/crochet with you soon!

[03 Jan 2006|04:45pm]

sup my knittas?
i hope you had a good break from school and i hope your new years resolution was to hang out with more knitterly people, because i think we should!
when we are all settled in again with classes and whatnot let's get together as much as humanly possible and do that teaching thing that tina suggested.
i think it would be a blast and i wouldn't be opposed to making (i almost typed "knitting") the posters for it.

on another note... Narnia? anyone seen it? i'm am now the proud owner of a Mr. Tumnus scarf.... and yes, i'm a nerd. but OH the great knits in that film!

PS. i need to head to fairhaven soon and get more of that neon yarn i bought last time... i have requests for TWO scarves from it, one for myself (my mom stole mine) and one for my grandma. does anyone want to go this week?

club-ness. [03 Dec 2005|06:09pm]

hey, earlier this year my roommate and i started a knitting club. we're calling it "western stitch." we meet thursday evenings at our apartment on high street, about a 5 minute walk from campus. here's our website:

perhaps we should meld our two groups into one?

Tomorrow's trip? [18 Nov 2005|04:10pm]

It seems the easiest way to get there by bus would be to take the 105 heading to downtown and get off on Magnolia. Then, somehow, find the place. I'll print out and bring a map. I promise to remember this time.

Maybe around 2:30 meet at whatever bus stop is easiest for you and get on the 105 (you may be waiting there anywhere from 10-20 minutes. Bundle up.) All of us need some knitted thing carried along to distinguish us, since we will meet on the bus.

If anyone has a definate form of transportation that is superior to the bus, speak now!! We can always plan to meet somewhere on campus that is convenient for you.

If you plan to go, keep checking this community for updates tonight and tomorrow. This seems to be a good tentative plan for now. Any disagreements?
